Quitting her husband’s house and moving back in with her horrible family, Lady Maccon becomes the scandal of the London season.

Queen Victoria dismisses her from the Shadow Council, and the only person who can explain anything, Lord Akeldama, unexpectedly leaves town. To top it all off, Alexia is attacked by homicidal mechanical ladybugs, indicating, as only ladybugs can, the fact that all of London’s vampires are now very much interested in seeing Alexia quite thoroughly dead.

While Lord Maccon elects to get progressively more inebriated and Professor Lyall desperately tries to hold the Woolsey werewolf pack together, Alexia flees England for Italy in search of the mysterious Templars. Only they know enough about the preternatural to explain her increasingly inconvenient condition, but they may be worse than the vampires — and they’re armed with pesto.

BLAMELESS is the third book of the Parasol Protectorate series: a comedy of manners set in Victorian London, full of werewolves, vampires, dirigibles, and tea-drinking.

My Rating and General Opinion

Indeed, the storyline just keeps getting better and better!! A bit soap operish, but highly entertaining!!

The Writing

By now I am very used to Gail’s writing, and even if I don’t feel as charmed as I did with the first one, I still don’t find any flaws in it.

The Story

In this new adventure we go all overboard! We get to travel trough Europe thanks to a BIG misunderstanding… Because this book takes place in Victorian England other wise I wouldn’t understand it, and still it enfuriates me the easyness with which women are discarded… I am looking at you beastie! Damn beast…

Miss Tarabotti is apparently a wanting criminal… I am so glad of her soullessness, otherwise I don’t know if any normal person would be able to go through all of this, she just cannot take a break! Running through Europe with people chasing her, thank god she has a capable entourage!

In this installment we also get to meet a new historical figure I was most interested to meet, although the final result was a bit meh.

The ending is quite sudden which only makes me want to continue with the parasol protectorate series…

The Characters

We get to meet some new characters and the already known ones, get more layers added to their characters, which only makes me happier!!

The evolution is so palpable, that I don’t think two more books will be enough to be done with Alexia and the whole gang!!
