Lady Alexia Maccon, soulless, is at it again, only this time the trouble is not her fault. When a mad ghost threatens the queen, Alexia is on the case, following a trail that leads her deep into her husband’s past. Top that off with a sister who has joined the suffragette movement (shocking!), Madame Lefoux’s latest mechanical invention, and a plague of zombie porcupines and Alexia barely has time to remember she happens to be eight months pregnant.

Will Alexia manage to determine who is trying to kill Queen Victoria before it is too late? Is it the vampires again or is there a traitor lurking about in wolf’s clothing? And what, exactly, has taken up residence in Lord Akeldama’s second best closet?

My Rating and General Opinion

This group of characters, they really are my cup of tea. They feel like family now.

The Writing

You know, I am not gonna repeat myself ;P Great writing!!!

The Story

Story wise it started a bit slowly, but the end was another mix of action. Even thought, the plot that was promised, in the end was such an “insignificant” one that left me maybe a bit disappointed but I didn’t enjoy it any less!

We get to meet a really pregnant Alexia and let me say there’s not much different between her normal self and her pregnant self (that definitely sums up her character).

This installment follows a mystery related to the Queen, indeed, to her murder plot. Alexia, puts on her Holmes shoes once again and tries to investigate but doesn’t even come close to the real murder plot. But in the process she does discover some past secrets from both her father and husband, or better said, the beta Profesor Lyall.

The story gives a 180 degree turn and you enter in this world full of drama and hurting and ends up in a big explosive final (couldn’t put it better).

The Characters

I didn’t feel such difference between normal/hormonal Alexia, but enjoyed both of them. And what a good couple Alexia and Macon do… they both are quite insufferable at times!!hahaha
We finally got to know a bit more of Professor Lyall… finally!! And very interesting indeed. i was delighted to get to know more from this character because he’s been present from the beginning but not much of his background has been reveled.
And what about Ivy?? What a surprise!! And Felicity?? What a surprise too… I would indeed banish her, through her to the streets!

There are still quite some stories open and I hope in the last installment everything ends in a happy and fulfilling note.
