MY REVIEW

My Rating and General Opinion

3.25*

I found that it read more like a novella than a novel.

The Writing

The writing was OK and very understandable. What confused me was the writing of the characters, they were described in page 1 as one thing and by page 5 they apparently changed too much to be realistic…. And the way of writing the soulmate story seemed forced to me, a bit rushed and without much explanations.

The Story

The story was interesting, witchy and with creepy dreams, just like in the beautiful creatures universe but I still felt the plot was a bit simple simple.
One thing I missed was that “flashback” story at the end… that was really interesting and I would have exploited it more even through the whole novel. It could have explained more that soulmate sensation and bring a back story to the whole prophecy.

The Characters

I liked the characters. Rose wasn’t insufferable (pretty easy for a teenager) and Oscar reminded me a bit of Damon, from the Vampire Diaries, although his douche character was more of a façade. Some actions of this two just didn’t make sense… even if they ended up doing the correct thing i don’t know… there was something missing from their personalities.
The rest of the family were ok but didn’t impact much on the story.

Even if it wasn’t my favorite read I still plan on reading more of this author, especially the Blackheath duology!!
