Musing Mondays is a weekly meme hosted by The Purple Booker. This meme asks you to choose one of the following prompts to answer each week:
I’m currently reading…
Up next I think I’ll read…
I bought the following book(s) in the past week…
I’m super excited to tell you about (book/author/bookish-news)…
I’m really upset by (book/author/bookish-news)…
I can’t wait to get a copy of…
I wish I could read ___, but…
I blogged about ____ this past week…
And then also proposes a random question.
This weeks random question is: Do you try out genres you have not liked in the past once in a while just to see if your taste changed?
Yes I do. I read from a variety of genres and I am not always that lucky with what I choose, but a book isn’t a whole genre and specially as we evolve and mature, we change and most importantly our tastes change with us.
Another very important thing to have in mind is the season and/or mood you find yourself into when trying a new genre. You maybe have gone and picked up a new one at X time because you thought it was a good idea but as it turns out you weren’t really ready for it, and you end up pointing up as bad the whole thing. That’s not realistic.

For the not so random prompt, this week’s chosen one is I’m super excited to tell you about (book/author/bookish-news)… Final Girls by Riley Sager.
What a debut, what a novel, what a thriller!!! If you can’t tell, I just finished this book last night and I can’t praise it enough! I don’t believe it was a debut, it was such a good written and plotted (don’t get me started because WTF!!!) novel that I just can’t. I was lucky enough to get approved (first approval ever!YAY) by netgalley to review this one and now July couldn’t get here too early, because I want a physical copy too! They have been selling it like the new Gone Girl (I haven’t read that one yet, but I understand the buzz cause I’ve watched the movie) and unlike maybe The Girl On The Train, I think this one really deserves such hype! Keep tuned and mark July 13 in your calendars if you are into this genre!! And if not, I would say try, you never know when your tastes will change!! 😉 😛
Final girls sounds like it would be about horror movies am I close?

You know, I have decided I HATE magical realism, and now I don’t read anything that could possibly fall in that genre. It’s probably unfair of me – I should definitely consider trying a book in that genre every once in a while just to see if my taste has changed!

I can say I’ve never read a book in that precise genre but I don’t doubt someday I’ll give it a try!! And you should definitely not abandon it completely, but leave in your genre TBR, because who knows when you’ll be in the mood for it again! 😊😉
