Musing Mondays: May 8 (+ May 1)

Musing Mondays is a weekly meme hosted by The Purple Booker. This meme asks you to choose one of the following prompts to answer each week:

I’m currently reading…
Up next I think I’ll read…
I bought the following book(s) in the past week…
I’m super excited to tell you about (book/author/bookish-news)…
I’m really upset by (book/author/bookish-news)…
I can’t wait to get a copy of…
I wish I could read ___, but…
I blogged about ____ this past week…

And then also proposes a random question.

Last weeks random question was: Do you prefer Fiction or Non-Fiction?

Easy answer. Fiction all the way! I do enjoy to read some non-fiction every once in a while especially if we are talking about humourous biographies, but otherwise I prefer to go on an imaginary (real or fantastic) world.

This weeks random question is: Do you like to read when you are feeling under the weather?

Well, I must confess my go to are movies or binge-watching some favourite show. When you are feeling under the weather and you need an instant pick up that’s the easiest exist I would assume! Also you usually just want to sit or lay down and don’t move a muscle and reading it takes more than complete disconnect. So nope, I won’t say never, but I prefer not to.

For the not so random prompt, this week’s chosen one is I’m currently reading… The Circle by David Eggers. Well I am actually just finishing. I had to prepare myself for the movie, which I am watching tonight so we’ll see how it goes!!

Here’s the synopsis thanks to goodreads! And you can find more info about the movie here!

When Mae Holland is hired to work for the Circle, the world’s most powerful internet company, she feels she’s been given the opportunity of a lifetime. The Circle, run out of a sprawling California campus, links users’ personal emails, social media, banking, and purchasing with their universal operating system, resulting in one online identity and a new age of civility and transparency.

As Mae tours the open-plan office spaces, the towering glass dining facilities, the cozy dorms for those who spend nights at work, she is thrilled with the company’s modernity and activity. There are parties that last through the night, there are famous musicians playing on the lawn, there are athletic activities and clubs and brunches, and even an aquarium of rare fish retrieved from the Marianas Trench by the CEO.

Mae can’t believe her luck, her great fortune to work for the most influential company in America – even as life beyond the campus grows distant, even as a strange encounter with a colleague leaves her shaken, even as her role at the Circle becomes increasingly public. What begins as the captivating story of one woman’s ambition and idealism soon becomes a heart-racing novel of suspense, raising questions about memory, history, privacy, democracy, and the limits of human knowledge.
