GOODREADS SYNOPSIS

Genre: Non Fiction, Biography, Adult.
Goodreads rating: 4.05

In this groundbreaking debut essay collection, featuring never-before-seen photos, actress Lily Collins—star of Mortal Instruments and the upcoming Rules Don’t Apply—is opening a poignant, honest conversation about the things young women struggle with: body image, self-confidence, relationships, family, dating, and so much more.

For the first time ever, Lily shares her life and her own deepest secrets, underlining that every single one of us experiences pain and heartbreak. We all understand what it’s like to live in the light and in the dark. For Lily, it’s about making it through to the other side, where you love what you see in the mirror and where you embrace yourself just as you are. She’s learned that all it takes is one person standing up and saying something for everyone else to realize they’re not alone.

By turns hilarious and heartbreaking, Lily’s honest voice will inspire you to be who you are and say what you feel. It’s time to claim your voice! It’s time to live your life unfiltered.

MY REVIEW

4.5*

The ability some of these women around the world have to put their soul into mere pages never ceases to amaze me! This whole ordeal feels like magic to me, because I am completely helpless when it comes to write a sentence properly! 😂😂

Leaving that behind, if you didn’t like Lily already, I am pretty sure you will after reading this. It’s a really cute read, but not only that. It is inspiring and real and not everything she talks about here is particularly easy to digest, but I find her way on putting on a brave face on continuing on to be a great way to connect with teens (and not only them) all over the place.

I felt an immediate connection to Lily, because even we live in completely different worlds and I haven’t gone through what she has, her approach to life is the same as mine. I truly couldn’t believe we had that much in common and I certainly cannot wait to read more from her! ☮ ☮ ☮
She has this distinct, sweet and very special voice of her own, that’s easy to get lost into! In fact, her voice translates perfectly to the pages and I could only imagine her reading by my side 🙂 😋 All in all an insightful and light read full of interesting and important themes. I think the writing was great and the approach she had towards everything she discussed in here is certainly something to underline. I just wish it had been a more extensive memoir, but hey she is almost the same  age as am I, so it would have been strange. For now, it was more than acceptable and I can only wait to hear more her in the near future!!

[The fact that I have to wait almost a whole other year to finally get this on my hands in something I don’t understand and something that I don’t seem to put past me 😡😡]

This is such a quick read that you won’t regret it if you pick it up! I know I am not an objective mind when in comes to Lily because she has something that really appeals to me, like Miss Mindy Kaling! So I cannot say NO to this women!! Go ahead and enjoy it!! 🙂

Funny fact, I just found the hardback of this one on amazon in quite an awesome prize (going against my own rules of not buying HB 😂😂) and I decided to give it to myself as a Birthday present!! 🙂
