Musing Mondays: May 22

monday

Musing Mondays is a weekly meme hosted by The Purple Booker. This meme asks you to choose one of the following prompts to answer each week:

I’m currently reading…
Up next I think I’ll read…
I bought the following book(s) in the past week…
I’m super excited to tell you about (book/author/bookish-news)…
I’m really upset by (book/author/bookish-news)…
I can’t wait to get a copy of…
I wish I could read ___, but…
I blogged about ____ this past week…

And then also proposes a random question.

This weeks random question is: What is your favorite place to read in?

I confess I have more than one place I consider comfy enough to go on and read non stop. My confy couch with natural lightining gives me a quite private place to depart from this world, but my favourite will always be the simple bed. Surrounded by multiple pillows there’s no place like home! What’s yours??

For the not so random prompt, this week’s chosen one is Up next I think I’ll read… Vengeance Road by Erin Bowman. It is supposed to be a buddy read and let’s see if the content is indeed as good as the continent with this one!! 😉 It will be my first official Western so let’s see… because although I get some distant western vibes from McGinnis duology (Not A Drop To Drink), I’ve never adventured in this genre before (I know I am no lover of old classic western movies…)

Goodreads synopsis:

When Kate Thompson’s father is killed by the notorious Rose Riders for a mysterious journal that reveals the secret location of a gold mine, the eighteen-year-old disguises herself as a boy and takes to the gritty plains looking for answers and justice. What she finds are devious strangers, dust storms, and a pair of brothers who refuse to quit riding in her shadow. But as Kate gets closer to the secrets about her family, she gets closer to the truth about herself and must decide if there’s room for love in a heart so full of hate.     In the spirit of True Grit, the cutthroat days of the Wild West come to life for a new generation.
